The Write-In Journal for the Oral Storyteller
Storyteller, who are you? What should you know? What is your place in the world’s oral storytelling traditions?
Dozens of Thought-Provoking Comments and Questions
We asked oral storytellers from around the world to answer the question, “What should storytellers know about the art and craft of storytelling?” You’ll find many of their responses in this write-in journal. In addition to the 30+ comments and 20 focused questions, you’ll find some blank pages for you to generate your own thoughts and ideas.
Just a little video of Michelle working on the artwork for the next “The Fox and the Crow: Art and Stories Inspired by Aesop” book. Enjoy.
Michelle and Sean were recently at the “Welcome to Kindergarten” for the Pendergast School District in Avondale, Arizona. 100 lucky families received a free copy of the DADDYTELLER book from Sean. PESD uses a bee as a mascot (“We BEE-lieve in You!”)…so Sean captured the moment in a photo. Thanks for hosting us, good PESD folks!
We’re pleased and grateful for the front-page article from the West Valley View in Avondale, Arizona. There are a two great pictures and a good article that talks a bit more about the philosophy of the author and illustrator. Thank you to the WVV team who put this together. Above is a picture of Michelle Buvala, the illustrator for Apples for the Princess (Amazon Link) book. Taken at the “Art is Alive” festival in Goodyear, Arizona.
“Apples for the Princess” is our first “children’s” book from storyteller and author K. Sean Buvala. His wife, Michelle Buvala (Mesquite Tree Studio), has illustrated this kid’s book in watercolor and cut-paper compositions. Scheduled for release on October 2, 2015, the book will initially be available in both Kindle™ and paperback versions.
